LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR DR. GARY RANKER

Gary and I met on a flight from N.Y. to L.A. seven years ago.  While discussing our respective careers, it became apparent to me that Gary's skills may be a valuable resource to Jefferies.

At Jefferies, we had valued employees who had some behavioral issues. We hired Gary and gave him the assignment to work with these individuals. The initial success led to full-time employment, working across the firm with senior executives.

Gary was charged with the task of helping people overcome obstacles which prevented them from achieving greater success in the workplace. He was successful in many instances, which greatly benefited Jefferies.  He became our in-house coach, and in that capacity many people felt comfortable talking with Gary about their issues. He in turn coached them how to become more effective and more productive by recognizing and changing negative behavior.

He was there with us on that fateful Tuesday of 9/11/01, and was a very useful resource to many managers and employees in helping them deal with the tragic situation.

Although I am retired from my role as President of Jefferies, it would be an honor to discuss Gary's contribution to me and the firm over the last several years. I can be contacted through my email.

Best Regards,
John C. Shaw Jr.
