Dr. Ranker has 17 years of experience as an executive coach, specializing in corporate politics, a facet of executive coaching that he has almost single handedly pioneered. Gary was one of the first to apply a 360 degree coaching technique that today is common practice. He sensed a need to look beyond the individual executive and explore his or her corporate environment, making a point to interview several of the client’s closest associates. This 360 degree approach seeks to garner not only a clear understanding of coworkers’ opinions of the client’s behaviors, but also to gain a perspective of the corporate political field in which they work. “The reason why I work with multiple people within a company is that I’m trying to get an understanding of the culture so that I can coach to the expectations of that culture. I work with the individual person I’m assigned to; however, I’m always paid by a corporation, so the corporation’s view of what their politics are is a major factor in the relationship.”
